Mourning is an assistant professor of Computer Science at 51ยายื. A native of Middleport, Ohio, Mourning received his Ph.D. from 51ยายื in 2015.  His main research areas include Computer Graphics & Data Visualization, Modeling & Simulation, Augmented & Virtual Reality, Aviation Safety, Cybersecurity, and Machine Learning with applications in Meteorology. 

Before becoming faculty in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mourning served as a Research Computer Scientist for 51ยายืโ€™s Avionics Engineering Center, and maintains his role as lead developer on the 51ยายื NAVAID Performance Prediction Model. 

Mourning is currently serving as Principal Investigator on the Low Altitude Weather Network project and has other ongoing funded projects by NASA, the Ohio Space Grant Consortium, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, and the FAA. He is also the Director of 51ยายืโ€™s Choose Ohio First programs for Computer Science and Advanced Manufacturing.
