The Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) degree in Piano Pedagogy curriculum promotes high performance and academic standards and offers a wide array of performance opportunities, stimulating coursework, supervised teaching, and research initiatives. 

The 51ĀŅĀ× Keyboard Division is staffed by internationally recognized faculty who are committed to providing the highest quality educational experiences for our students. Our faculty regularly present recitals throughout the United States and abroad, and are esteemed authors, clinicians, and pedagogues.

The 51ĀŅĀ× Keyboard Division has distinguished itself as a leader in the field of keyboard education, offering a broad spectrum of degrees and innovative curricula designed to train the next generation of keyboard musicians to enter the profession with skill and confidence.

Admission Requirements

All undergraduates, whether prospective freshmen or transfer students, are required to audition for admission to the degree programs offered by the School of Music. In general, students may not pursue coursework in the major until they have successfully auditioned and been admitted to a music degree program.

Students auditioning for the B.Mus. in Piano Pedagogy will perform one composition from each of the following categories: 

• Baroque: A prelude and fugue or other major work by J.S. Bach
• Classical: The first movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, or composer of similar difficulty (excluding Mozart Sonata, K. 545, Beethoven Sonatas, Op. 49, Nos. 1 and 2, and Op. 79)
• One contrasting selection from the 19^th, 20^th, or 21^st century
