
Aurora Charlow Appointed Digital Archivist

51ÂÒÂ× Libraries is pleased to announce the appointment of Aurora Charlow to the position of Digital Archivist, effective April 7, 2025.
As part of the University Libraries’ department of Archives & Special Collections, Preservation, and Digital Initiatives, Charlow will help build the Libraries’ digital stewardship capacity in support of teaching, learning, research and institutional memory.
In this role, Charlow will build a collaborative approach to managing born-digital materials across collections including the Documentary Photography Archive, Manuscript Collections, University Archives, University Records Management and Rare Books.
Charlow currently serves as a librarian for Public Services at Wilmington University overseeing the coordination of interlibrary loan services, providing virtual and in-person reference services, and creating educational videos and video transcripts to assist students in understanding how to effectively utilize library resources.
Previously, Charlow worked as a manuscript accessioning assistant at Harvard University’s Houghton Library and gaining valuable experience with born-digital material within mixed format collections. Charlow also gained experience with the history of Southeast Ohio as a contract archivist supporting a grant-funded project at 51ÂÒÂ× Libraries.
Charlow earned a Master of Library and Information Science with an archives management concentration from Simmons University in May of 2024, and a Bachelor of Arts in media and journalism as well as political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2022. Charlow is currently working toward a Digital Archives Specialist certificate from the Society of American Archivists.
