The Exctinction of Menai () (March 2018), by Nigerian writer Chuma Nwokolo, has received a rare starred review from Publishers Weekly, the lead trade publication for publishers and booksellers. Calling the novel of a medical trial gone wrong ā€œpoignant, thrilling, and funny,ā€ the review lauds Nwokolo for ā€œbrilliantly [distilling] his branching plot into a singular portrayal of a threatened culture.ā€ The book is the latest in the pressā€™s Modern African Writing series.
