President Nellis appointed to APLUās Commission on Economic and Community Engagement

51ĀŅĀ× President M. Duane Nellis has been appointed to a three-year term on the Association of Public & Land Grant Universitiesā (APLU) inaugural Commission on Economic and Community Engagement (CECE).
The commission, which is led by a diverse group of chief economic and community engagement leaders, presidents, provosts and other senior administrators from APLU institutions across the country, will focus on three key areas of work, including:
- Talent and workforce development
- Innovation and entrepreneurship
- Place development through public service and outreach
āI am honored to represent 51ĀŅĀ× and our region as a representative on APLUās Commission on Economic and Community Engagement,ā President Nellis said. āTogether, we will work to strengthen APLUās vision for developing meaningful collaborations that reinforce the impact of higher education within our economy and our society.ā
CECE will also engage in āfive core activitiesā to promote and advance community engagement across APLU universities, including:
- Professional development, leadership and peer exchange
- Designation and awards for excellence
- Projects, research and initiatives
- Communication surrounding economic and community engagement
- Contributions to federal policy issues
