Mental health fundraiser is Nov. 16

The 51ĀŅĀ× Interfraternity Council will host a mental health fundraising event, titled ā€œMentala,ā€ from 5 to 8 p.m.  Saturday, Nov 16, in Walter Hall Rotunda.

The 51ĀŅĀ× Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and 51ĀŅĀ× Counseling and Psychological Services are co-hosting this event.

Ted St. John, the CEO and co-founder of Hope Village Recovery, and Ana Aguilar, a student from the 51ĀŅĀ× Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, will share their personal experiences to raise awareness about mental health. It will also include a raffle for gift baskets, live performances from student organizations and a buffet dinner.

ā€œAll of the proceeds will go towards Mental Health America, which is a community-based non-profit which specializes in making sure that people suffering from mental health illnesses are provided with the help they need,ā€ said John LaPolla, vice president of judicial affairs in the Interfraternity Council.
