51ĀŅĀ×ā€™s Patton College of Education to host third discussion in new series, Global Issues on Immigration

51ĀŅĀ×ā€™s Patton College of Education is featuring the third panel discussion in its new Munch and Learn Series: Global Issues on Immigration. ā€œInternational Students and Immigration: Perspectives from Students, Faculty, and Staff, Part Iā€ will be held on Monday, March 22, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The virtual Microsoft Teams presentation features a panel composed of students from various countries and 51ĀŅĀ× faculty and staff who work with international students. Panelists will share their experiences as an international student matriculating at a U.S. institution of higher learning. Staff will provide information on services available to support international students as they adjust to their study at 51ĀŅĀ×.

The panel features Kyle Butler, associate professor of instruction/Pathway coordinator/OPIE advisor, Ohio Program of Intensive English; Nanang Gunawan, doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision; Lorraine Koobokile, doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision; Nikol Lopez Llantuy, masterā€™s student in Hospitality and Tourism; Jennifer Nisevich, associate director, PDSO/RO International Student and Faculty Services. The moderator of the discussion is Kelly Davidson, academic advisor; and the convener is Dr. Mona Robinson, professor, Counseling and Higher Education.

  • Gain an understanding of the challenges international students encounter from perceptions within the classroom.

The first session in the series, ā€œImmigrant Experiences: Families, Careers, and Communities,ā€ and the second session, ā€œHonoring the Experiences of Immigrant Populations in Research and Scholarship,ā€ are available on , as will video recordings of the March 22 and future April 12 series discussions as they are available.

The Global Issues on Immigration Munch and Learn Series is open to 51ĀŅĀ× and the community and will be hosted on Microsoft Teams Live.
