51ĀŅĀ× Board of Trustees appoints Misty Crosby as new regional trustee

The 51ĀŅĀ× Board of Trustees, today, named Misty Crosby, executive director of Buckeye Hills Regional Council in Marietta, as its new regional Trustee.

"51ĀŅĀ× has a strong and lasting commitment to the success of the communities that we serve,ā€ Board Chair Cary Cooper said. ā€œMy fellow Trustees and I believe Mistyā€™s demonstrated professional career in regional government and non-profit administration will give our region a critical role and voice in University leadership.ā€

During its meeting, the Board voted to amend its bylaws to add a non-voting regional trustee to its membership, in appreciation for and recognition of the valuable contributions and insights to be gained from adding the regional representative.

51ĀŅĀ× President Hugh Sherman proposed the addition of the seat during the Boardā€™s meeting in August.

ā€œMisty Crosby brings the perspective we need to help strengthen the Universityā€™s existing Southeast Ohio partnerships,ā€ President Sherman said. ā€œHer connection to the region will help us strategically serve the economic interests of our communities and deliver distinctive academic programming that connects to regional needs.ā€

Crosby has been executive director of Buckeye Hills Regional Council since 2007. She has been with the organization since 1991, previously serving as assistant executive director from 2004-07 and development director from 2001-04. She completed Executive Women in Leadership Certification at Cornell University in 2021, earned a Bachelor of Science in organizational management at Ohio Valley University in 2004, and an associate of applied business in accounting technology at Washington State Community College in 1997.

ā€œIt is an honor to be named 51ĀŅĀ×ā€™s first regional Trustee,ā€ Crosby said. ā€œI applaud President Sherman and the Trustees for their commitment to include a representative who can provide a regional viewpoint and for recognizing the value this perspective will add to the Universityā€™s leadership. I am looking forward to serving in this newly-created role and helping 51ĀŅĀ× connect its academic programming to the communities of Southeast Ohio.ā€

Crosby will begin her term as regional Trustee on Oct. 8, 2021 through June 30, 2024.
