OHIOā€™s Scripps College of Communication has added a new graduate credential to its suite of online ā€œstackableā€ certificates.

The Media Tools for Professional Communication certificate is designed for professionals from all backgrounds and experience levels and teaches fundamental skills in a variety of digital storytelling platforms.

Scripps College Dean Scott Titsworth said the ability to utilize digital storytelling tools has become an essential element for professionals across industries.

ā€œUnless you have a background in media, you likely havenā€™t learned how to produce a podcast or create a professional-grade video package,ā€ Titsworth said. ā€œThis certificate will provide the foundation people need to start creating the kind of product employers and clients expect.ā€ 

The 12-credit hour certificate can be completed alone or combined with another certificate and capstone experience to ā€œstackā€ toward the online master of communication degree. Courses are seven weeks long and focus on three main short-form storytelling platforms: video production, animation and podcasting.

Applications are accepted for all entry terms throughout the year. No GRE is required for admission and a 5% scholarship is available for alumni and military service members.
