The Athena Cinema announced ā€œThe Met: Live in HDā€ series return starting Oct. 22 and continuing on select Saturdays. The seriesā€™ 2022-2023 season features 10 performances transmitted live from the Metropolitan Opera House in New York to cinemas worldwide.

The series, launched in 2019 to an often-sold-out audience, is supported by 51ĀŅĀ× Performing Arts & Film, Associate Professor Emeritus of Classics and World Religions George Weckman, the College of Fine Arts, and the collegeā€™s Arts for OHIO program.

The 10 productions to be transmitted to the Athena Cinema screen include the world premiere staging of The Hours, company premieres of Champion and Medea, and four additional new productions. The roster of artists to appear on screen include Piotr Beczała, Lise Davidsen, Joyce DiDonato, RenĆ©e Fleming, Ryan Speedo Green, Kelli Oā€™Hara, Ailyn PĆ©rez, Nadine Sierra, Russell Thomas, Michael Volle, Sonya Yoncheva, and more.

The Live in HD season launch on Oct. 22 begins with Medea and continues with La Traviata (Nov. 5), The Hours (Dec. 10), Fedora (Jan. 14), Lohengrin (March 18 at 11:55 a.m.), Falstaff (April 1), Der Rosenkavalier (April 15 at 11:55 a.m.), Champion (April 29), Don Giovanni (May 20), and Die Zauberflƶte (June 3). All performances will be on Saturdays beginning at between 11:55 a.m. and 12:55 p.m., transmitted live from the Met stage. A special encore screening of Mozartā€™s The Magic Flute will also be presented on Dec. 3.

Ticket prices are $20 for general admission, $18 for seniors, $15 for Athena Cinema members, $8 for children, and OHIO students are free, thanks to support from Arts for OHIO. OHIO student tickets are limited in number and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students must have a valid student ID.
