
Eric Muth named as OHIOās Vice President for Research and Creative Activity

51ĀŅĀ× President Lori Stewart Gonzalez, today, announced that Eric Muth, Ph.D., has been named as Vice President for Research and Creative Activity.
āEric has a proven record of fostering an atmosphere of creativity and discovery that will position OHIO well as we grow and sustain impactful research,ā President Gonzalez said. āEricās extensive background in research administration and his impressive track record of innovation, assembling diverse teams and building capacity for major funding opportunities make him the right choice for this position. I am excited for the future of research at OHIO under Ericās leadership.ā
Muth, who most recently served as Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, has served in various key roles in higher education since 1997. Muth spent 19 years of his career at Clemson University with the last portion of his career working on translational research in mobile health technologies. Muth also has significant experience in the private sector: For nearly 10 years, he was the co-owner of Bite Technologies ā a startup that was based on technologies Muth helped invent.
As a faculty researcher, Muth has published more than 100 scientific papers and articles and earned nearly $8 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Office of Naval Research and other federal agencies and multiple private corporations.
Muth holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and an M.S. in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University, as well as a B.A. Psychology from Hartwick College.

President Gonzalez extended her gratitude to Graduate College Dean David Koonce, who has served as interim Vice President of Research since 2022.

Muthās first day at OHIO will be in early summer.
