Bird Ice Arena to reopen Jan. 2 after completion of essential repairs
51ยายื Facilities Management and Well-Being and Recreation have announced that Bird Ice Arena will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Facilities Management and Well-Being and Recreation have worked diligently with their partners to complete essential repairs for an unexpected facility equipment issue related to maintaining the arenaโs ice.
Upon reopening, Bird Ice Arena will also feature several improvements that were made during summer 2024, including:
- New ice plant compressor equipment and relocation
- Updated Mezzanine Lounge with furniture and signage
- New arena and event lighting
- New insulation of interior roof and repair of external roof
- Painting of all locker rooms, offices and arena rafters
- Team locker room and signage update
- Significant repairs to the Olympia Ice Resurfacer
- Updated arena signage and banners
OHIO Hockey updates
OHIO Hockey will return to Bird Ice Arena the weekend of Jan. 10-11, for a series against the University of Pittsburgh. This will kick off a six-week stretch of weekend home games for the Bobcats. For the most up-to-date season schedule, visit .
