On Oct. 29, 2024, the 51ĀŅĀ× Alumni Association Malaysia Network paid a courtesy visit to Nancy Shukri, MBA ā97, the countryās Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development. The visit, led by Malaysia Network President Mohad Anizu Mohd Nor, MSPE ā97, and advisor Jayum Anak Jawan (former Tun Abdul Razak Chair at OHIO), included committee members Kamalul Arifin Othman, MBA ā96, and Nor Azuwa Mohd Isa, BBA ā99, MA ā03.
It was a fruitful meeting and great news for the Malaysia Network, during which Minister Shukri accepted an invitation to be the organizationās patron.
As many as 2,400 OHIO alumni live and work in Malaysia, representing the Universityās greatest concentration of alumni outside the U.S. Many OHIO alumni have become leaders in key sectors of Malaysian society, including business, academia, government and the media.
Last year, the Malaysia Network and the 51ĀŅĀ× Alumni Association organized āBobcats in Kuala Lumpurā at the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur in May and a live telecast of the Homecoming 2024 at the UiTM Shah Alam Annex Hall in September (seen in photo above). Both events were well-attended by alumni and friends and received full support from 51ĀŅĀ×.
The Malaysia Network is planning to organize several events in 2025 and is looking forward to a potential collaboration between 51ĀŅĀ× and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. The group hopes this collaboration will further enhance the relationship between 51ĀŅĀ× and Malaysia.
