Collaboration, last-minute script rewrites and questionable wigs: for a group of students who gather each week to embrace the chaos of live comedy, these things define Friday nights. For nearly 40 years, the student-run sketch comedy show Friday’s Live has kept this tradition alive.

Modeled after , the performance features live and digital sketches, a rotating host, musical guests, and a stand-up set before the show. Every other week, the lights come up on Studio C and the comedy begins.

From writing and acting to videography and editing, Friday’s Live is a creative playground for students who want to sharpen their skills and their comedic timing.

“Fridays Live was something I found out about when I first visited OU, and I had my sights set on it because somehow I just knew that its sense of humor would get me,” Conner Otte, a second-year Media Arts Production major, said. “I don’t think I feel welcome in any single place more than I do within the walls of Studio C putting on comedy shows with my favorite people.”

This season has been particularly special for Jeanie Stanton, a senior Media Arts Production major, who hosted the Season 54 premiere.

“While I wasn’t an active member myself, I’ve had friends in Friday’s Live throughout my time at OU. However, this experience helped me grow closer with a larger community. They are some of the most welcoming, fun, kind and creative people on campus.”
