Research and Creative Activity

The staff of the Stevens Literacy Center engages in both original research and creative activities that advance knowledge and practices in literacy-related fields. Original peer-reviewed manuscripts appear in regional, state, and national publications. Individual staff members engage in a variety of professional organizations, often in leadership roles, and present research and professional development workshops at state and national conferences.

Appalachian Writing Project
The 51ĀŅĀ× Appalachian Writing Program was established in 2007 as an affiliate of the National Writing Project. We believe that writing can transform studentsā€™ learning in any subject area and that teaching writing can and should be central to learning.
