Through a combination of rigorous academics and hands-on learning in laboratory and design experiences, our undergraduate degree program prepares students to create for good in rewarding careers in a range of industries or by continuing on to graduate research in fields like pharmaceuticals and green energy. As a chemical engineering graduate, youā€™ll have not only technical knowledge but also a practical understanding of how to translate that knowledge into improving the world.

As an undergraduate chemical engineering student in the Russ College, youā€™ll learn the fundamentals of mathematics and science, the core skills of the profession in mass balances, heat and mass transfer, and reaction engineering, as well as a range of technical electives. Students are challenged with a variety of chemical plant and equipment design problems both inside the curriculum and at national-level competitions. Our broad variety of technical electives allows students to build a breadth and depth of knowledge in other engineering disciplines and higher-level science and mathematics. An approved list of technical electives [PDF] is available for download.
