Omar Movil-Cabrera

Omar A. Movil-Cabrera is a carbon utilization research engineer at 51ĀŅĀ×ās Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Environment (ISEE). Movil received his doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico ā Mayaguez, and his bachelorās in chemical engineering from Universidad del AtlĆ”ntico ā Colombia. Prior to joining ISEE, Movil worked as a faculty at the Department of Chemical Engineering ā Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (2016 ā 2024), and as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Russ College of Engineering ā 51ĀŅĀ× (2014 ā 2016).
At ISEE, Movilās work is mostly focused on the development of a novel electrochemistry-enabled carbon dioxide mineralization process to generate carbon-negative alkaline carbonate materials from natural brines for building, construction, and related applications.
