Strategic Research Areas

Many engineers recognize that they have an opportunity to use their work to improve the world. At the Russ College, we know that itā€™s not just an opportunity, itā€™s a responsibility. And itā€™s one that we take seriously. In addition to continuing our established excellence in aviation navigation through the Avionics Engineering Center, we focus on three strategic research areas that have a tangible impact on society and address urgent issues in our world:

  • Transportation infrastructure, which can foster achievements like safer planes and more energy-efficient pavement.
  • Energy and the environment, which can lead to innovations like clean water conversion systems and address issues like pipeline corrosion.
  • Biomedical engineering, which can improve lives through improved diagnostics, devices, and treatments for conditions like cancer or diabetes.
